Our first ever tie! Our panel of judges here at the "Fly Guys" headquarters were unable to agree on the victor for the July "Fish of the Month", so we have our first stalemate. Some help from mother nature

Parts of the north country finally saw some inclement weather yesterday. What appeared to be isolated thunderstorms dumped a good amount of water yesterday evening, enough to raise to river significantly up to 500 cfs. This, factored with some cooler temps should help the fishing come back around again.

Its finally time!

It's that special time of year, the time we have all been waiting for and better yet the time that our slimy fish friends have been waiting for. The hatch of the year is upon us and I for one am so exited I dont know which direction to go in.

Of course its the hex hatch I am talking about and it is most certainly here. As a pond fisherman it is the one hatch you dont want to miss. At my house bills go unpaid, dogs go hungry and milk gets spoiled, nothing gets done until the bugs are gone. Dont miss this epic hatch, drop what youre doing and get out and join me, just dont get to close because heaven only knows where my casts are going in the middle of the night.

Cool Video

In honor of Jones Outfitters guides Matt and Mike and the fishing trip they took yesterday for Muskies where they failed to catch a muskie and struggled to catch even a few bass, we thought we would post this fun video of someone catching both at the same time. Here is to you boys.

 

 

Ponds still hot!

Ice out is not a term of the past at this point. The ponds are still producing good fishing. Check out this video taken by Matt this weekend.

 

In the swing of things

The river is back up a little bit to 1,140 cfs which still is not bad for the early season. NYS will be stocking fish in the river at the end of the week and will make things a bit more more exciting. The rivers up north are running a little warmer with tempuratures being reported in the 50's. The river temp taken yesterday on the Ausable read 43 degrees.

The pond fishing continues to be good as the surface tempuratures continue to rise.  With everything warming up so nicely the fishing should get even better over the course of the next few weeks, if you follow us on facebook you can see a picture of a nice laker taken by our friend Jesse on Lake Placid.
