Great Lakes Carp Battle Rages On

In December 2009, DNA testing found evidence that Asian carp were within a few miles of Lake Michigan, yet the locks which provide the carp with a direct path into Lake Michigan remain open.

Great Lakes states are supporting the fight in court, including New York, Wisconsin, Ohio and Minnesota. The Province of Ontario joined us as well. However, the Obama administration and the State of Illinois are opposing our suit and refuse to close the locks.

You can help us convince federal and local authorities to close the locks and protect the jobs and ecology that depend on the health of the Great Lakes by signing this e-petition. We will present the petition to President Obama and hope that he changes his position.

Another sunny day in the Adirondacks, I think it's five in a row which is closing in on the record. Temps near the forties have things melting and a little open water is showing up on the Ausable. Here is the view from Monument Falls looking down stream, everything up river remains frozen.

Steelhead fishing on the Salmon River continues to be real hot. Big fish on smaller flies is what this pre spawn action is all about. We have trips scheduled starting on the 20th of March. Don't miss out on this great action.

Here is a picture of some local fly fisherman. Oh btw they also happen to be Olympic champions. Congrats to our local Olympians! On this sunny March day we celebrated their success with a parade down Main St. Good work guys, you sure made it fun for us.
